## AI overview

formbase has AI built into every stage of form building — generate, refine, translate, and analyze responses from the AI chat in the app.

- **Generate** — turn a prompt, PDF, or screenshot into a working form. See <a href="/ai/ai-form-generation">AI form generation</a>.
- **Refine** — chat with AI inside the editor to add fields, restructure pages, and tweak logic.
- **Translate** — translate your form into multiple languages with context-aware AI.
- **Analyze submissions** — ask questions about your response data in natural language and get summaries, trends, and recommendations.
- **Translate individual submissions** — turn prose answers into your workspace language while preserving original values. See <a href="/submissions-analytics/submission-inbox#translate">Translate a submission</a>.
- **Manage your workspace** — create forms, organize folders, publish, send requests, and set up share links through conversation.
- **Teach AI with skills** — give AI reusable instructions and domain knowledge it follows on demand (Pro). See <a href="/ai/ai-skills">AI skills</a>.

All of these are available through the <a href="/ai/using-ai">built-in AI chat</a>. Publishing, deleting, and revoking a share link need your approval before they run — you stay in control.

AI chat needs a signed-in formbase account. It is not available while you are trying formbase as a guest.

<h2 id="credits">AI credits</h2>

Every AI action spends credits from your balance. You buy credits in packs when you want them, on any plan; no plan includes credits. Purchased credits never expire, and a Business owner can share theirs with the whole team. See <a href="/ai/ai-credits-usage">AI credits & usage</a> for pricing and packages.

Prefer your own AI tool? Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and other agents can work with formbase over MCP instead, and that spends no formbase credits — your AI tool bills you. See <a href="/guides/ai-agents/connect">Connect an AI agent</a>.
